You can own your blog by simply pointing your blogger blog to your domain name. Simply, set up domain mapping which configures your blog settings and domain. This is a very easy process and I have categorised it in three easy procedures.
First Procedure.
You have to first update your settings in your blogger account. To do this,
- Log in to your blogger and open your blogger dashboad.
- From the settings tab, click basic.
- Under 'publishing' , select + Setup a 3rd party URL for your blog and enter your domain name.
- Save. An error must appear listing some two fields below your blog. We have 'Name, Label, or Host Field' on one side and 'Destination, Targets, or Points To Field' on another side. Accurately copy all data given to you and log out.
Second Procedure.
- Log in to your domain's registrar account.
- Go to domain management and click on DNS settings.
- Edit your CName records. In some cases, a CName record for www already exists. If it does, simply edit the 'Destination, Target or Point To' Field. Type in 'ghs.google.com'.
Still with the CName records - add a new CName record. But this time, type in the unique 'Name, Label, or Host' code given to you by blogger in its field. And do same with the other unique 'Destination, Target, or Point To' code in its field. It should look like this;
Host | Points To
www | ghs.google.com
Unique code | Unique code
- Finally, create four 'A' records assigning them to four different Google IPs. Take a look at how it should be like below.
Host | Points To
@ | 216.239.32.21
@ | 216.239.34.21
@ | 216.239.36.21
@ | 216.239.38.21
Final Procedure
1. Log in to your blogger account.
2. From the settings tab, click basic.
3. Under 'Publishing', select + Set up a 3rd party URL for your blog.
4. Enter your domain name.
5. Save.
It may take about 24 - 48 hours for your domain to work. To ensure your visitors are able to view your blog with/without 'www'. Click on 'Edit' next to your domain and then select 'Redirect to www..............' . This setting ensures your blog redirect the naked domain[yourblog.com] to [www.yourblog.com].
The guide ends here. If you found this post useful, please share it with friends on Facebook, Twitter or Google +. Thank you.
And Congrats, you now own a website like google.com
